My pursuit of my Achan’s dream – the 2nd trip – Sep 2017 – Roopkund Trek, 16000 ft.

Achan & I had wanted to see Shark Fin’s mountain (Meru) and Tapovan. When I checked the details online I was scared as I learned about the altitude and the fitness level required. Also, I had zero experience with hiking or trekking. Therefore, I booked for Roopkund trek through the organization, India Hikes, with the plan that once I complete one high-altitude trek, Gaumukh Tapovan would be easier. I went for the Roopkund trek on Sep 17 and found out by the end that my fitness level was zero. I had a tough time. However, this experience was soul-awakening and I felt most alive when I was in the mountains.
Incidentally, l met someone who was a father of a 3-year old daughter who gave me company throughout the trail. I shared my father’s stories with him and listened to his tales about his daughter. As I was the last person to finish the trek there was a complaint against me that one of the fellow-trekkers sent to India Hikes. However, this did not demotivate me. Instead, it made me more determined.
This trail included walking through Ali and Bedni Bugyal,It was a heart-pounding thrilling adventure as we climbed.

To be continued …
Planning to condense the adventure experience in book soon
