Pat on the back

My pursuit of my Achan’s dream – the 10th trip – Aug 2018 – Hampta Pass Trek, Altitude 14065ft.

I was always looking forward to do a cross over trek & Hampta Pass trek is one of the most stunning cross over trek which starts from Manali and ends in Spiti. The highlight of the trek is dynamic change in scenery each day. One of my favourite campsites is Shea Goru where we see a stream flowing next to the campsite and Lahaul valley view is stunning. Our group had people who came from various backgrounds including people who were 60+ who gave us life goal. It was my first experience of celebrating Independence Day in the mountains which was mind blowing & closes to my heart. In this trek stream crossing is a must and initially was scared to go ahead but with everyone cheering for each other it just happened smoothly. Our group was lucky and we were able to see Chandra taal (lake of the moon) in Spiti where in the beauty of the surroundings rejuvenate you from within.

Ashish Rai was our Trek Leader from India hikes. He is a guy who loves experimenting in each trek & this time he was descending down without using shoes. Although half my age but very dedicated & has his career visions and goals crystal clear. I got a pat on the back in the trek which was a big surprise for me – A gift voucher for best trekker in the group.

Achan always used to say, pat on the back is a reassurance that you are moving in the right direction. Being a leader I always ensured people around me are appreciated so the motivation to do better in life does not go away.

Ashish, will always remember the way you made the group celebrate their success by dancing on the road near Chatru campsite. Taking time to enjoy little moments adds to more happiness.

It is always better to dance than to march thru life To be continued…. Bumpiest ride tales will be condensed in the book soon.
